The ricasso is marked EMERSON & SILVER, TRENTON N. J. while the opposite side is marked US with inspectors initials of D. F. M. above the date 1863. Standard cast brass hilt with ribbed grip, round pommel cap and thin knuckle bow ending in a quillon. Authentic Civil War Era Model 1840
