This is a Civil War Confederate States of America manufactured wood drum canteen. It measures almost 12" in diameter and is 7" wide. It was designed to hand from a cannon limber or wagon, this is a large canteen that would most likely have been used for horses which fits as it is marked to the South Carolina Artillery. Artillery regiments relied heavily on horses in order to move cannon. The circumference of the body of
