A pair of Indian War Era US Army Pattern M1874 Meat Can Mess Kits. 3rd type meat can with the solid handle and off set ring on the lid. Both have US marked on the handle and are offered in very good condition. This is the Type 3 version of the 1874 pattern mess tin or "meat can." A lid with pull ring can act as the soldier's plate and the body of the tin has a folding handle so that it can act as a frying pan.
