I love the elegant detail on the top and sides. The interior has its original parts, with double lidded tea compartments and a central glass mixing bowl. It is possible that the rope element was added at a later stage. The bowl would have been used to blend teas to personal taste, an elegant detail that speaks to the ceremony surrounding tea at the time.
